under fire and ray’s still running his mouth. nate can hear him from goddamn fifteen feet away beneath the relentless assault and, really, that’s kind of obscene, but he’s not even surprised. “person,” nate shouts over without turning his head, “i can’t hear myself shoot. shut the fuck up.” he spares a glance, then, finds ray staring at him with a shit-eating grin and nate can only mirror it.
